It happens every year
The need to hear those tunes.
Not in the bright and warm
Sunny month of June.
Nor is it in October

When the leaves begin to fall.
Not even when the little feet
Of ghosts and goblins call.
Perhaps it is the snow
Or the shortness of the days.
The joy that fills the heart
When Christmas music plays.

This poem is on a plaque that was given to my husband many years ago. It has always meant a great deal to him.
