The Nature show on PBS featured this great episode a couple of weeks ago.
It was titled: Christmas in Yellowstone.
The photography is superb and the show was a joy to watch.
I am looking forward to when this one is rebroadcast.

An image of our lake - on a calm day, with no one around.
We swim every night at this lake - most times we have it to ourselves.
The families have left, the boats are docked, and the place is all ours.
But these past few days have seen temps over 100 degrees.
And the lake has been [...]

We have been back to swimming in the lake for about two weeks now.
And the season so far has been grand for it.
Most evenings we have the entire swim area to ourselves, and it couldn’t be more serene.
No boats out during the weekdays to make any waves.
No splashing and screaming from other swimmers.

Yellowstone National Park has a supervolcano with a caldera that measures 25 miles by 37 miles.
This caldera (the top or crater of the volcano) has been watched for many years - if the volcano were to erupt, this would be the area that the hot magma would spew from.

The water seemed a bit chilly at first, but after the dunk in, it was just gorgeous!
Not too crowded when we arrived around 5:00pm, so we had a good swim without any interference with other swimmers.
It was so good!
The freedom of the water makes the joints feel so much better and of course the exercise [...]

I stumbled across this magnificent image online a week or so ago and thought it was worth sharing.
It was taken in Iceland in 2006, when the volcano, Helka, erupted, and the heavens gifted us with an Aurora painting at the same time.
