Extreme Ice

060727-169 Extreme Ice

One more post about ice, and then I will give it a break.

I don’t usually insert video into my blog - mainly because I have no idea how to do it.

Hopefully this one will come through.

It is a video from the Extreme Ice program on PBS.

What you are viewing is a compilation of slides over a three year period.

The photographer set up a camera that would snap an image every hour during daylight hours for three years.

The purpose of this was to track the Columbia Glacier in Alaska to see just how much it is shrinking over that time frame.

I was quite intrigued by the camera setup, but of course they didn’t really get into that since the show was about the glaciers.

Okay - I can’t seem to get the video to embed, so I will post a link.

If you get a minute, it will be worth your while to check it out.

Here is the link: Columbia Glacier

Click on the “video” tab to start the show.

Enjoy!
