A New Name for an Old Problem
I heard a new term mentioned on the radio yesterday.
We listen to NPR quite often, and there was a discussion going on about the climate changes and global warming.
They were mentioning how the term “climate change” sounds so comfortable and nice - something almost positive and pleasant.
Such as - a change of climate often does one good for various health reasons.
We tend to use this term to describe the global warming that is happening across the globe.
The speaker mentioned the term brings to mind warm sunshine, palm trees, and gentle breezes.
But in reality the opposite is happening.
The snowstorms are spreading farther south and the flooding and mudslides from the torrential rains have become more severe - all around the globe.
All of the storms - rain, snow, hurricane, tornados, and typhoons are become fiercer.
The speaker coined a new term that I think is much more appropriate also.
He called it “climate crisis” instead of “climate changes”.
Makes more sense to me.
