Unbelievable!
This image is a NASA illustration that shows the space junk that is orbiting the Earth.
When I first saw this image I was totally astounded - I couldn’t believe we had polluted our atmosphere to this degree.
Through the years we had heard off and on about satellites being put into orbit, and of course we all know about the space station, but space agencies worldwide, who employ the brightest and most intelligent have been keeping big secrets from its citizens.
It is estimated that there are over 100,000 pieces of non-functioning junk orbiting in the heavens above us - and it has taken only 50 years to get it in this condition.
What have these intelligent leaders been doing, and what else are they not telling us.
On second thought, do I really want to know?
My gosh, mankind has an uncanny knack for making everything such a mess.

We have indeed contributed to the mess of our world and with much more than just space junk. We need to hold ourselves responsible for this mess and clean it up at all costs.
March 5th, 2009 at 2:20 pmWell stated, Debbie. It really bugs me though, that only a select few “intelligent” people of the Earth’s population have been putting all this stuff up there. We can all take responsibility for the planet, but the ones who put this up there have to really own up to it and start doing something about it.
March 5th, 2009 at 4:49 pmYou know, I am really surprised that there has not been more accidents in space due to the debris. I think that on one of the next missions, they need to take a look at what could be done. Whether the space junk could be picked up and brought back to earth or shoot it with a vaporizer!

Hi Friend.. Interesting post.. Nice blog.. Keep up the good work.. Do visit my blog and post your comments.. Take care mate.. Cheers!!!
March 8th, 2009 at 2:03 pmHi Linda - I agree - they should be working on cleaning it up each time they go up there. I think that most of it is small, and would burn up when entering the Earth’s atmosphere - if they could point it in that direction.
March 8th, 2009 at 7:05 pmUnbelievable that they’ve let it get to that state. I’ve heard about space debris of course, but never expected it to be as bad as that.
March 9th, 2009 at 9:12 amHi A - It is out of control - and to think it is the “geniuses” on our planet who are responsible. Not too smart in my opinion!
