Drive Through Flu Shots
I thought I was hearing things when I heard the evening news mention something about drive-thru flu shots.
All I could think of was: Do you want that supersized? YIKES!
After looking more into it online, it seems they have a pretty slick process set up - and you truly never leave the car.
You sign a consent form and an information form, pay the cost, then roll up your sleeve - the nurse is ready with the needle waiting.
This has been a service offered in the larger cities for a few years now, and it is now starting to trickle down into the smaller towns.
Flu season runs from October through March and it is recommended that the following individuals receive a shot:
Anyone over 65
Babies between 6 and 24 months
Anyone who is immuno-depressed: cancer patients, those with diabetes, heart disease, asthma or HIV
Pregnant women who will be in their 2nd or 3rd trimester during flu season
Approximately 20% of the American population comes down with the flu each year.
36,000 people will die and 200,000 will be hospitalized from it.
Those numbers alone should send the at-risk individuals running to get one!
